About

NAMASTE!

I’m Ilona.

A normal girl from Prague who practices yoga, loves caramel chocolate and mango juice, grows herbs on her balcony, is happiest on the beach and steps on Legos when she goes to the toilet at night…

I GOT TIRED OF BEING A GOOD GIRL WHO THINKS OF HERSELF LAST (IF THERE IS TIME) AND NEEDS TO BE LIKED BY EVERYONE. SO I STARTED TO PRACTICE YOGA, MEDITATE AND NOT CARE ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK OF ME. AND I’M MUCH HAPPIER NOW…

My yoga story begins quite simply. When I was around 20, I went to my very first yoga class in my life and… it was terrible! So boring, oh my god!  As a matter of fact, they say that yoga will find you, but sometimes you have to try really hard for it to even notice you!

But when a friend took me to Bikram yoga, that’s when it all started. It wasn’t a big bang, it just crept into my life. I practiced in Prague, then in Toronto, when we worked there for half a year. Then I stopped enjoying it a bit and I started expanding my horizons even in studios where it’s not so hot. Power, hatha, vinyasa, physio…

Looking back now, I can see the impact it had on my life. When I was finishing university, I really wanted to be a big manager in some multinational corporation, wear suits and heels and be terribly important.

And then when I started working in a bank, I found out that I don’t really want any of that! And I blame yoga for a little bit of that 🙂 That your ego shrinks a little while you practice and your life values turn upside down. And so I quit after about 9 month, without another job and with completely new priorities.

And in 2 months I joined Red Bull. A company where I definitely didn’t wear heels. Actually, I didn’t wear any shoes when the outside temperature climbed above 20°C 😀 The office, where I was looking forward to on Monday morning. A company that is actually more of a family. And I felt so good there!

When my first baby was born in 2019 and I went to maternity leave, everything just clicked into place and in 2021 I took a yoga teacher training.

And it suddenly became much clearer to me what is important in life. Living in the present moment, appreciating what I have, working on myself, moving material things a little lower on the ladder, loving myself above all and also sleeping after lunch, not dealing with nonsense and so on… 😉

Do you want to go a little deeper into what life is really about? So here.

As a wife of a very busy man, I juggle marriage, children, home, yoga, my life and travel. Would I like to be a full-time traveler? Hm, maybe. Am I one? Not yet 😀

But traveling is a big part of me. And I’m a proof, that having kinds doesn’t have to stop you from traveling. It is different. For sure! But still possible. And still amazing!

It’s one of my very personal goals in parenting. To show them the world as I see it and then let them go to find their own point of view.
